There's few things I enjoy more than gardening and being surrounded by flowers. I never feel closer to God than when I am outside surrounded by His magnificent creation and all the beauty that He has created. So, when we moved into this home 10 years ago I was excited to turn the barren yard into a floral oasis! Not an easy task when you have nothing to work with! But, after many trials and errors and years of going at a snails pace, I finally am not embarrassed to share a few shots of our garden with you! Today I will mainly be sharing the cozy little nook I created using a $10 mosquito net and a hammock. A lot of hard work, blood, sweat and tears went into this space. We built the brick patio from free bricks we found on Offerup. I painted the shed white and at some point it will get a new roof. We also built and painted the fence. We put in the flower beds and filled them with David Austin roses, catmint, phlox and daisies to name a few. I bordered the beds with rocks left on the property when we moved in. All in all we are so happy with our garden and it is an amazing feeling to look back at everything we have accomplished. But, of course there are still projects we would love to tackle. One of the first things we did do in the yard was add a little gravel patio and put in 2 lilac trees. Here's the before... And here's what it looked like during the install of the brick patio and fence... Crazy what a little creativity and hard work can accomplish! When we put the brick patio in, I added this Cecille Brunner climbing rose. This is her third year and even though she has given me blooms every year this year has been especially spectacular! I always look forward to peony season and she hasn't dissapointed! I planted several more bushes this year and I'm looking forward to even more peonies next year! And of course, after all the work of creating a cozy spot to relax in that's exactly what you do, relax! Wishing you all a blessed Memorial Day and may we remember and honor those brave men and women who sacrificed their lives for us so that we can live free. xo, René Sources: String lights - Amazon Hammock - Amazon Mosquito net - Amazon Small patio Umbrella - Amazon Pink pitcher - Farmhousefreshhome Tables, chairs and accessories- Vintage
