This is the first year I didn't put up a fresh tree. Don't get me wrong, I love a fresh tree but I always forget to water it and I end up with a crispy tree before Christmas is even over. No matter how much I convince myself I will remember next year I never do! Since fake trees have come a long way since my younger days I felt comfortable taking the plunge into the world of artificial trees. I had a limited budget but high standards and it can be hard to get a high quality tree that doesn't cost an arm and a leg. But, after some searching I found what I was looking for and fell in love with this One. I loved the realistic snowy effect without the heavy flocking. It didn't come pre lit but I kind of like that I can choose my own lights. For an artificial tree I must say I am very impressed. I no longer have to wait for the tree farms to open and it's also super easy and quick to set up and take apart for storage. I used a variety of new and vintage ornaments in different sizes and colors. I stuck to whites, silvers, golds and pinks. I especially love the pops of hot pink. If you're looking for vintage ornaments I would recommend checking out Etsy. Here are a few links to some of the ornaments and accessories I used.. Balsam Hill Etsy World Market I make my own fresh garland every year. I have an easy DIY linked here. I also make my own fresh wreaths using grapevine wreaths as my base. All I do is tuck my greens into the wreath overlapping as I go. Once its completely covered I wrap floral wire around the entire wreath to hold the greens in place. Add a bow and you're done! I also love adding tons of candles to my Christmas decor. Nothing like watching Christmas movies with the candles and twinkle lights on. I only use beeswax candles. They are non toxic and actually clean the air by releasing negative ions. You can find the ones I like to use here. Even if you wait till the last minute to do your Christmas shopping you can still add empty Christmas boxes under your tree. They make such pretty decor! Just add a pretty bow and you're all set! You can find some of the ones I have here. I hope that you enjoyed the little tour of our living room all decked for the season!
Happy decorating! xo, René
