With the crisp cold mornings of Fall and the changing leaves I am excited to share how I am bringing the changing season into my home decor and outdoor spaces. I have stuck to my neutral palette but brought in lots of texture! First up, my entryway; so grab a cup of coffee and enjoy! Here in the living room I added the cutest pumpkin pillow I found at target. That beautiful braided pillow I found at bed bath and beyond. I love the texture it adds to the couch. It was a bit of a splurge but I absolutely love it, so it was totally worth it! My kitchen table, which is also our dining table, is all decked out for Fall. I love using natural elements like apples, pears and pumpkins. I also use real florals that dry beautifully like baby's breath, hydrangeas and silver dollar eucalyptus. One of the best parts of living on the river is the amazing view! Here I set up a few Fall touches to our fire pit area. If you're like me, you like to create little seating areas throughout your garden. Here I created a little secret garden nook all set up for a sweet tea party. You can't enjoy the Fall season without a great dessert and one of my absolute favorite's is apple crumble with a big scoop of vanilla ice cream! It's a hit in my household and it is so easy to make! There are quite a few variations for apple crumble but this recipe is my absolute favorite and the only one I use. Recipe below.... APPLE CRUMBLE 2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats 1 1/2 cups golden brown sugar 1 cup all purpose flour 1 cup (2 sticks) chilled unsalted butter, cut into 1/2 inch cubes Nonstick vegetable oil spray 4 pounds large Granny Smith apples (about 6 apples), peeled, halved, cored and each half cut into 6 slices 3 tablespoons fresh lemon juice 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon Vanilla ice cream PREPARATION Mix oats, 1 cup sugar, and flour in bowl. Add butter, rub in with fingertips until topping comes together in moist clumps. Preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit. Spray 13x9x2 inch glass baking dish with nonstick spray. Mix apples, lemon juice, cinnamon and 1/2 cup brown sugar in bowl. Transfer to dish. Sprinkle topping on top. Bake until apples are tender and topping is brown and crisp, about 55 minutes. Let cool slightly. Spoon warm crumble into bowls. Serve with vanilla ice cream. Makes 10 - 12 servings. Happy fall y'all! xo Rene'
