Hi everyone! I have been MIA for a while and I am so excited to be back. Today I am finally sharing my first wallpapering adventure with you! This was such a fun project and I learned a new skill. If you have been thinking of adding wallpaper to your home, I hope this article will encourage and equip you to try your hand at it and learn right along with me. I will be sharing everything about this project in hopes of encouraging and equipping you to try something new.
Adding an accent wall using wallpaper is a great way to add character and a pop of color without doing the whole room. The wall opposite our bed has always stumped me. It has gone through many changes and none really felt finished. It always felt bare, like something was missing. While contemplating what to do, I stumbled upon these gorgeous vintage sconces on facebook marketplace. They were such an awesome find since they matched the chandelier above our bed! And, the best part, they were only $60 for the pair! Let me repeat that. They were only $60 for the pair!! Now, they weren't in perfect shape but that's what I love about these old pieces. They were missing their crystals and bobeche's but that didn't stop me! I managed to find vintage crystals and glass bobeche's on Etsy. I also replaced the ugly, broken socket covers with new beeswax ones. After a good cleaning, hubby helped me hang them above the armoire on either side of the mirror. They are not functioning and I don't need them to function. They are beautiful whether they light up or not. I may wire them some day but I'm in no hurry. Still, even after adding these gorgeous sconces, the bare walls baffled me and this is when the idea of wallpaper hit me.
I ordered a few samples but none made the cut. I kind of let go of the idea of wallpaper for a while. Then, it happened! I found the perfect wallpaper online from my favorite shop. This little shop is my go to when I want to buy pretty fabric, and I love their fabric. I measured the walls to be papered and placed my order!
I was a little nervous since I have never hung wallpaper. Trust me, if you are hesitant to start this project, I completely understand. So, to get motivated and get prepared, I watched a youtube video and it really helped give me the confidence I needed to tackle this project. The video gave a detailed list of everything I would need. I highly recommend watching this if you are hanging wallpaper for the first time.( I have linked it below.) Once I got all my supplies together and had a free weekend, I got started! I didn't know what to expect or how long it would take so I had my hubby help me. We had a few troubles along the way but once I got the hang of it, it was really easy and a lot of fun. I felt confident enough to finish it on my own and it only took me an afternoon! By the end, I felt like a pro!
I absolutely love how it turned out! The soft pink floral print is so pretty and yet understated and not overwhelming at all, the perfect finishing touch that this wall needed!
Below, I am linking all the products I used for this project and what you will need to hang your wallpaper.
I hope you enjoyed my post and are inspired to add wallpaper to your home!
