I thought I'd quickly share my updated living room with you guys! I've been loving the blues but I've been craving a change.

I absolutely love to collect French antique hemp sheets. The patina, feel and texture of them is just so addicting and I love the character they add to a room. Another plus is that they are very durable and hold up to regular washing very well. That's why I use one to throw over my couch and I have 2 chairs upholstered with them  as well.

I especially love ones with the monograms! Just look at that beauty and the old rust stains! (insert heart eyes.)

We have the Ikea ektorp couch and the back cushions were starting to get lumpy and losing their shape. Not only that, they were hard and always felt they took over most of the couch leaving you this tiny space to sit on. Till we can afford a new down filled couch I decided to remove the back cushions completely and replace them with throw pillows. I raided my pile of antique sheets to make pillow covers. I made a total of 7 pillows varying in size from 20"x20" to 18"x18." What a difference! Why didn't I think of doing this sooner? Much more comfortable and now there's room for both me and the hubby and George, our 4 legged baby :)

My go to for purchasing antique French sheets is Etsy. There are tons to choose from! Only downside is they ship from France so its usually a 2 week wait but it's a small price to pay for these beauties!

I'm absolutely loving the new look and I'm always amazed at what a huge difference something simple as changing out pillows can make. And as you can see someone else approves of the new look as well!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Just a quick request. I saw that you would like a down sofa, before you get one be informed in how and where your down is sourced. Make sure it is ethical.

Hi Rene, oh my gosh, I'm just loving your blog! This is a fabulous idea for my couch. I've never purchased french sheets. I just checked Etsy and there are so many different types. Could you share which etsy source you bought them from. Did you just lay it over your couch and what size did you get for your couch, thanks hon

Hi Leeanne,

For my couch I selected a french antique linen sheet. The linen is softer and thinner than the antique hemp. I have found the linen to be far better as far as comfort and actually staying on the couch. The antique hemp is thicker and more rough and is great for upholstery! I look for sheets that are at least 102”x80”. I also go for the ones with a monogram. So, the bigger the better! I also stay around the $60 price point because once you add shipping and tax it’s around $100 total. I have bought my sheets from many different shops. I know what I’m looking for so whoever has it, that’s who I buy from! Hope that helps! Once again, thanks for all the love! 💗
